Welcome! I'm Madison Schroder, a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at the University of Oregon, expecting to complete my degree in 2025. My research focuses on the intersection of campaign finance, direct democracy, and state politics in the United States. My dissertation, "Politics of the People? Out-of-State Interest on United States Direct Democracy Campaigns," examines the impact of out-of-state campaign contributions on direct democracy outcomes and processes across the country.
As an educator, I'm passionate about fostering an inclusive and engaging classroom environment. I've taught courses on Money & Politics and American Political Economy and served as a Graduate Employee for various courses including Introduction to Political Science and US Politics. My research interests extend to exploring how direct democracy processes are shaping policy landscapes on critical issues such as reproductive rights, climate change, and economic equity. I'm committed to contributing to the academic community through research, teaching, and service, and I'm excited to share my work and experiences with you through this website.
